Need A Furnace Upgrage? 4 Reasons You Should Consider A Hydronic Heating System

Posted on

Choosing a furnace upgrade can be a difficult decision. There are a multitude of options even when you're only looking at forced-air systems. If you throw a boiler or hydronic heating system into the mix, you'll have even more decisions to make. Radiant heating systems, while typically found in older homes, are still very relevant today and may be your best option. Following are four reasons why you should consider a hydronic heating system.

They Can Be Installed after Construction

Boiler heating systems produce heat via a network of pipes. Water is heated in the boiler and then passed through the pipes in the home. The pipes used in this type of system are no different than your water pipes. They are much thinner and easier to install than duct work, which makes a boiler system ideal for older homes that were built without a ventilation system. They can also be used in homes where the construction is odd or limiting.

Radiant Heat Is More Comfortable

Radiant heat is distributed more evenly than forced-air heat. Therefore, it is more comfortable. You will not experience temperature variations in different parts of the home, nor will you feel a draft of hot or cold air. If you add radiant floor heating to the mix, your feet will always be nice and toasty as well.

You Will Have Better Indoor Air Quality

Forced-air systems blow around a lot of allergens, including dust, pet dander, and mold spores. What's more, vents are a great place for bacteria and other nasty microbes to linger. In fact, most indoor pollutants come from a closed forced-air system. A boiler system, on the other hand, is very hypoallergenic, which makes it ideal for people with health or breathing problems.

Boiler Systems Are Very Quiet

You will usually never hear a boiler system in operation. You won't hear it kick on or off like you would a forced-air system. There will also not be a rushing sound caused by the air coming out of the vent. Overall, a boiler system is the quietest heating system you can install in your home.

As you can see, there are several reasons why you may want to consider installing a boiler heating system rather than a traditional forced-air one. If you're not sure which option is best for you, talk to an HVAC provider, like Powder  River Heating &  Air Conditioning Inc, who is well versed in plumbing and radiant heat systems.
